Sitting in the back will no longer be left to the kids with the all-new Grand Highlander. Toyota’s 2024 Grand Highlander will be more than just a bigger version of its predecessor.
Over the last two years, Toyota has sold nearly 487,000 Highlanders, making it the second best-selling SUV in the U.S. behind Toyota’s other SUV, the RAV4. Toyota believes the extra room will satisfy customers not quite ready to move up
to the new Sequoia. The additional 6.5 inches brings the ‘Grand’ total to 201.4 inches from hood to trunk. The Grand also sits 2 inches taller and 2.3 inches wider.
These additional inches translate to a roomier interior, especially in the third-row and trunk area and will give the back passengers 5.5 inches in additional leg room. While never the first choice for a full-size adult, the third-row
will be a pleasant surprise for even the taller friends and family who get ‘stuck behind’.
Drivers will be able to choose between a 7 or 8 passenger configuration with captain’s chairs or bench seating for the second-row. Those interested in the Grand’s Platinum trim will find ventilated captain’s chairs, and both the second
and third rows will have a fold-down option with 98 cubic feet of storage space, which is 14 more than the Highlander.
The biggest difference between the Highlander and the Grand is arguably not its size, but the new exclusive hybrid powertrain, the Hybrid Max. Also found in the new Toyota Crown, the new powertrain will boast 362-horsepower and 400
pound-feet of torque. The Grand Highlander will also be available in a gas-only turbo four cylinder and a less-powerful hybrid option, giving drivers three powertrain options. Toyota also estimates the hybrid SUV to get 34 mpg.
Along with standard safety features and the latest technology, the Toyota Grand Highlander will have size and style. Toyota has yet to release pricing for the 2024 Grand Highlander, but we anticipate more details to be shared when it is
released this summer.
