Seatbelts and airbags are only the beginning of the measures taken by Toyota to keep consumers safe. Toyota has equipped vehicles in their lineup with a bundle of features known as Toyota Safety Sense. These features utilize an integrated camera and radar system to help drivers confidently manage their commute in a safe manner.

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
The Pre-Collison System with Pedestrian Detection is designed to help drivers avoid a collision with a vehicle or a pedestrian in front of their car. When the possibility of an impending accident is detected, the system gives drivers an audio and a visual alert. The Pre-Collision Systems works along with Brake Assist technology to slow or possibly stop the vehicle to potentially avoid an accident.

Lane Departure Alert
When a car inadvertently veers from the lane of travel there is potential for an accident. The Lane Departure Alert system is designed to give drivers a warning when the car is veering unintentionally into a neighboring lane. Using a turn signal to safely change lanes prevents the system from activating. Steering Assist and Road Edge Detection is available along with Lane Departure Alert on some models.

Automatic High Beams
Oncoming headlights and preceding taillights are detected by this system. The system is designed to work at speeds in excess of 25 miles per hour. When oncoming or preceding lights are detected, the system automatically uses high and low beams appropriately to help drivers clearly see at night.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
Like other cruise control systems, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to allow drivers to travel at a preset speed. Detection of a preceding vehicle prompts the system to slow down without disengaging cruise control.

Road Sign Assist
Road Sign Assist helps keep drivers aware of upcoming road signs. This system displays upcoming speed limit signs, stop signs, do not enter signs and yield signs on the vehicle’s Multi-Information Display (MID).

Lane Tracing Assist
Lane Tracing Assist is available on select vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. When the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is activated and lanes are clearly marked, this feature helps keep the car centered in the lane of travel. Most beneficial in traffic jams, this feature can be deactivated using the vehicle’s MID.
